Nigerian artist Divine Ikubor, known as Rema, recently discussed his high-profile performance at the wedding of Anant Ambani, the son of India’s wealthiest man, Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant, daughter of pharmaceutical magnates Viren and Shaila Merchant.
Rema had previously made headlines with reports claiming he was paid $3 million (around N4.5 billion) for the event. In a new interview with GRM Daily, the “Calm Down” hitmaker shared his thoughts on the experience, though he did not confirm or deny the exact amount he was paid.
When asked about the $3 million payment, Rema responded with a laugh and said:
“Hehehe, that is all I can say to be honest. Financially, it was a great achievement, and the experience was beautiful. I love India, and India loves me too. It feels amazing to benefit from something that people once trolled and criticized me for. It’s a testament to not giving up despite the negativity. Four years later, it paid off big time.”
