Manchester City’s active January transfer window shows no signs of slowing, with Pep Guardiola reportedly preparing a €65 million bid for Juventus left-back Andrea Cambiaso. The 24-year-old Italian has caught Guardiola’s eye with his versatility and potential, making him a prime target to strengthen City’s defense, according to La Stampa.
Guardiola has already spent big this month, with the arrivals of Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt, Koudir Khusanov from Lens, and Vitor Reis from Palmeiras. Cambiaso could be the fourth signing, taking the club’s January spending beyond €210 million.
Juventus may face difficulty holding onto Cambiaso, despite his current €30 million Estimated Transfer Value (ETV). City have already initiated talks with the player’s agent, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the player is open to the move. Romano clarified:”Cambiaso isn’t pushing to leave Juventus. He’s a true professional and loves the club. But when Manchester City calls, it’s difficult to ignore. Talks about a five-year deal with a one-year option are already advanced on the player’s side. Now, it’s up to the clubs to negotiate.”
Football expert Carlo Garganese believes Cambiaso’s style perfectly suits Guardiola’s tactical demands. He said, “Andrea Cambiaso is an ideal fit for Pep Guardiola. His tactical flexibility and ability to interpret multiple roles make him an asset. Naturally a two-footed full-back or wing-back, he can play on either flank and has also been used as a winger or central midfielder at Juventus.”
Garganese also highlighted Cambiaso’s attacking mindset: “He excels at pushing forward, inverting his runs, and contributing as a playmaker. He is technically sharp, creative, and a strong dribbler. While he occasionally makes costly mistakes due to lapses in focus, his growth potential is enormous. Guardiola will appreciate his positional intelligence and tactical awareness.”
Cambiaso began his professional career with Genoa and joined Juventus in 2023 after several loan spells. His standout performances in Turin have sparked Man City’s interest and could see him make a high-profile switch to the Premier League this winter. If successful, Cambiaso would add depth and flexibility to City’s squad, aligning perfectly with Guardiola’s philosophy.
