Argentina continued their perfect run at the 2024 Copa America when they played their final group game vs Peru which was played on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
Inter Milan’s striker, Lautaro Martinez scored two second-half goals to help Argentina beat Peru 2-0 at the 2024 Copa America as they finished top of Group A, the result knocked Peru out of the tournament. Martinez scored the first goal in the 47th minute, chipping the ball over Peru’s goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, and scored the second in the 86th minute, in the same way he scored the first.
The two goals took Martinez’s goal record in the 2024 Copa America to four goals and his ninth in the history of the competition across 13 games.
Argentina had already qualified for the quarter-finals before the match in Miami with wins over Canada and Chile, the other teams in the group. They will be joined in the knockout rounds by Canada, who qualified as the group’s runners-up for the last eight after holding Chile to a 0-0 draw in the other Group A match.
Argentina will face Ecuador or Chile in the quarter-final for a spot in the semi-finals.
